Maximize your available label space with extended content labels; A handy solution to a problem that frequently flags more heavily regulated industries, like the Cannabis or Nutraceutical space. These labels allow companies to include the mandatory warnings and regulations without sacrificing the label design, allowing your beautiful labels to stay beautiful while still including the necessary fine print.

So, then what exactly is an extended content label? The term extended content label is an umbrella term for a variety of label constructions that we'll go into in a tad more detail below!

Peel back/Hinge

This is a label that has information included on both sides and a re-attachable adhesive, allowing you to peel away the layers and re-affix them afterward, making the label look untouched. (Magical, right?) It's an easy and re-sealable option that allows for additional content without the unattractive and tiny text, while ensuring the information is still present. If you want to think of it in a game aspect, it's basically label hide and seek. The information is present, but not visible until it's located.

Where do we see these?

Peel back labels are most commonly used in the nutraceutical and cannabis space due to the various regulations companies must adhere to. Next time you’re in a supplement store, check it out and see if you can spot any! It’s like a game of Where’s Waldo, except instead of a guy in a striped shirt, you’re trying to locate the super cool peel back label. Okay, maybe you aren’t as enthusiastic as us label nerds are, but you must admit it is pretty neat.

Peel back basics! This is the 411. Essentially, the need to know on all the various type of peel backs available:

  • (Standard) 2 layer: This is the standard! A go-to so to speak that has 2 printed areas with all content facing up.
  • (Double-sided) 2 layer: This label has 3 printed areas. The top peelable layer is double sided and the bottom layer has face up content.
  • 3 layer: Similar to the double layer, this label has 3 printed areas, but with this label they are all face-up.

Peel Off/Peel Away/Peel and Reveals

A peel-away label has a snazzy top layer that can be easily removed and applied to other surfaces. It is essentially a multi-layer label that uses an easy release, enabling easy peel-off capabilities.

Peel Out

Reminiscent of the sticker sheets we all had as kids, a peel out is a print label with adhesive on one side, allowing it to be easily removed. In its place is a cut out of the part that peels out, leaving a visible shape in the label, bringing a snazzy interactive aspect to your product packaging.

MAIN BENEFITS OF EXTENDED CONTENT LABELS

The main functionality of extended content labels is to increase the amount of available space. More space means more impact and more available content! This also helps with cost savings. Fit all of the necessary information on one handy label instead of printing multiple to ensure you can squeeze in all of that juicy information. Extended content labels in all forms also offer flexibility and customization. The opportunities are endless.
